Why your Role Matters
As Senior HR Assurance Specialist you will play a crucial role in ensuring the university adheres to all HR-related compliance requirements. Working closely with the Head of HR Quality and Compliance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive controls and assurance strategies in line with UNSW's strategic priorities.
As a compliance subject matter expert, you will provide independent and objective assurance and advisory services to our internal stakeholders that ensure compliance to key HR standards. This is an opportunity to work collaboratively across the HR function to build existing capabilities and ensure the seamless integration of improved assurance activities.
The role of Senior HR Assurance Specialist reports directly to the Director, Employee Relations
Accountabilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive HR Compliance Assurance framework and partner across HR and other functional areas including Finance, Risk, Audit and Legal Act as the first point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee compliance processes and procedures around fair work, EA compliance, working with children checks, recruitment, record keeping, conflicts of interest, and visas.
• Proactively identify and prioritise HR-related risks to help the business design and operationalise mitigation efforts.
• Serve as an SME for HR compliance and act as a liaison with the Faculties, Divisions, and HR.
• Implement best practices and industry standards as well as overseeing continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall HR quality assurance processes.

Who you are: We're looking for a confident communicator with a strong background in HR risk and controls, ideally within a higher education setting. As a natural problem solver and an analytical thinker, you'll bring existing experience in implementing and improving quality assurance processes and practices in a large and complex environment.
