We have a great opportunity for a seasoned lawyer to join our highly regarded and reputable in-house Legal Counsel team. We offer a close-knit team environment where you will be able to challenge yourself across a wide range of complex legal matters, working with high performing peers, and Executive level Leaders in the business.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Counsel, this is a true advisory role where you will support all areas of the business in identifying legal risk and providing expert advice, recommendations, and strategies to mitigate risk and assist in astute business decision making at HBF.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing legal advice on legislation and regulatory matters
- Advising on and helping with the implementation of regulatory reform impacting HBF including related projects
- Providing advice on products, marketing, and corporate offerings
- Supporting submissions to private health industry regulatory bodies, ensuring that the voice of HBF is heard and its interests are protected
- Authoring legal opinions and preparing legal briefing papers
- Updating the business on relevant regulatory developments and practice and provide education to the business to assist it in understanding associated obligations.
Let’s talk about you
Along with a Bachelor of Laws and admission to practice law in Australia, our ideal candidate will have at least 8-10 years post admission experience in interpreting statute, providing complex legal opinions, and considering case law in a highly technical and regulatory business environment.
You will be highly capable with a focus on attention to detail and able to deliver simple, easy to use and understand legal advice. Experience in either Private Health Insurance, Insurance, Banking and Financial Services or Regulatory and Compliance matters will be highly regarded. You will have previous in-house experience, or you will have worked at a leading law firm in private practice in a senior role.
