The role
As the Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist, you will apply scientific knowledge and laboratory experience to the development of complex configuration, including new test codes, in laboratory and clinical information systems that support both current and new business processes and workflows that will provide sample and record management, billing and client focussed reporting functionality within the Pathology Queensland and Forensic and Scientific Services laboratories.
Your Key Responsibilities include:
- Apply independent judgement in the identification and analysis of scientific and clinical risks in conjunction with relevant staff to support prioritisation of work and design of solutions.
- Apply independent judgement in assisting with the development of scientific and clinical practices, procedures and protocols in support of associated laboratory and clinical information systems.
- Apply high-level decision making skills to prioritise and manage the testing, validation and documentation of new / revised system configuration, laboratory work processes and associated changes to laboratory information system software to assist clients in work processes as required.
- Ensure that solutions implemented, and problem and incident management decisions made in relation to software solutions have minimal impact to customers and can be effectively supported by the CISSU Operations team.
- Manage and coordinate activities for scientific triage, analysis and design of software configuration within the AUSLAB Configuration project team, Clinical Information Scientific Support Unit to ensure provisioned services comply with regulatory standards and meet and maintain defined service levels.
To be successful in this role you will have demonstrated well-developed knowledge, expertise, and skill in information technology, specifically software development, programming and configuration.
- High level knowledge of scientific or laboratory practice and associated laboratory information systems.
- Experience in the analysis of and development of solutions for scientific / technical, organisational and software application problems.
- Demonstrated experience to provide leadership and direction advice to peers, clients and others on evidence based methods and best practise to influence standardisation of scientific and clinical workflow methods using laboratory and clinical information systems.
- Well-developed ability to interact and communicate efficiently and effectively at all levels with staff and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.
