The Opportunity
Our Assets and Capital Department has an exciting temporary opportunity for a Senior Project Manager to join the team and look after Special Building Projects. Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Project Management - Buildings, you will effectively and efficiently plan, coordinate and deliver some of Council's major and minor capital projects within the municipality, ensuring high quality, time, scope and budget management.
Key Responsibilities
Some of the key duties of this role include (but not limited to):
- Define the project scope, goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders
- Procure, Liaise and manage consultants and architects regarding allocated Capital Works Projects
- Deliver high quality Building Capital Works Projects on time, within budget, scope and to Council standards and specifications including renewals and upgrades and projects consisting of other asset classes, as required
- Oversee contracts with external providers against service delivery specifications, timelines and financial performance indicators
- Prepare capital works progress and financial reports.
About You
To be considered for this role, you will have the following:
- Tertiary qualification in Project Management, Engineering, Building, Construction, Architecture, Open Space or other related discipline
- Demonstrated substantial knowledge and experience of construction industry, building and civil project management including best practice contracting and tendering processes, Australian construction standards, codes of practice and relevant legislation
- Strong research and analytical skills in order to develop reports, policies or procedures
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills to enable effective communication, negotiation, facilitation and influencing skills with a wide variety of people from all levels and background
- Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
- Extensive computer proficiency including MS Office applications
- Physical ability to enable mobility around construction sites
- Current Victorian driver's license
- No relevant criminal record found in a police check.
