UGL is currently looking for an experienced Senior Secondary Electrical Engineer to become a key member of the Power Utilities teams based in Brisbane and Sydney. You will be responsible for providing detailed designs, developing specifications and interface with management on design issues

About the role

The Senior Secondary Engineer will build and maintain strong relationships with the inhouse construction teams and our client to effectively deliver to client expectations. This opportunity will see you join our multi-disciplined in-house engineering team working to solve complex problems throughout the project lifecycle across all known aspect of secondary system design involvement. You will:

·         Plan and conduct professional engineering work on relevant aspect of EHV/HV Strategic Planning and Conceptual Design

·         Provide a detail design services, consult, recommend and advise on specialist engineering areas that would include but not be limited to: Protection Detailed Design (Protection Logic/Setting files, etc.); Primary Plant and Secondary System Equipment Specification and Procurement (CT, VT, CB, TFMR, etc..); Protection/Control Detail Schematics and Integration; Grid Metering, Power Quality and High Speed Monitoring Installations; Load flow, Fault level and dynamic studies and analyses; Engineering Network/Data Network Architecture and Configuration; Control System Detailed Design and Configuration (EMS and Distribution Automation); Communication Systems (including Data Network and Bearer Network systems design); General AC & DC System Specification and Distribution Design; Power Generation, including renewable energy sources detailed design involvement and system integration, etc.

·         Provide technical support to the Business Development and Tendering as required.

·         Assist with site commissioning if required (short term in general)

·         When required, assume the role of Design (Package) Leader in accordance with the Company's Engineering procedures

·         Plan, coordinate and mentor other engineers

·         Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders

About You

·         Engineering Degree

·         Understanding of the power system and power utilities operational requirements and preferably utility-based or engineering consultancy design experience

·         Strong computer skills and industry experience in a diverse range of relevant Electrical Engineering software packages / equipment suppliers and products.

·         Proactively seek to continuously improve performance, deliverables and work efficiencies

·         Positive approach to safety

·         Ability to manage multiple stakeholders

·         Excellent relationship building, problem solving, commercial and negotiation skills
