BenefitsTask & Responsibilities Overseeing and coordinating entire kitchen operations Managing and leading the kitchen team, particularly when head chef is absent Preparing, cooking and serving a variety of dishes Planning and drafting menus, including seasonal menus and daily specials Ensuring all raw products and prepared dishes are of a high quality and standard Overseeing the stock-take procedures, liaising with suppliers and ensuring that appropriate food supply orders are made on time Ensuring food is stored at appropriate temperatures and by proper methods for preservation and freshness Ensuring food allergies and intolerances are accommodated for and properly managed Discussing any food preparation or other issues that may arise with management as well as kitchen and wait staff Assisting the head chef in preparing a budget and ensuring that food and labour costs come within that budget Reviewing kitchen sales, and implementing measures to ensure such targets are met Assisting in the process of hiring new kitchen staff Training and supervising kitchen staff, including demonstrating specific cooking techniques and providing guidance on cooking procedures Ensuring that appropriate hygiene, food safety and OH&S standards are met Liaising directly with customers when required Qualification & Experience Relevant Diploma qualification or 3 years full time experience as a Chef may be considered in lieu of a qualification in some circumstances. A minimum of 3 years experience in addition to the above is also required.
