Chef
Café Gusto is a multifaceted venue located in a leafy, pond side business park in the heart of Botany, we are a Café Monday to Friday and transform in to an events space after hours and on Weekends. Along with occasional corporate events on weekdays.
The position:
Our venue runs as “CAFÉ – CATERING - EVENTS”, Monday to Friday the cafe operates from 6am - 3pm with the main focus being corporate catering and cafe operations. Saturday and Sundays the venue transforms into an event space holding small intimate weddings, christenings birthday parties etc.
We are of European backgrounds, but offer modern Australian cuisine within the café. Ultimately a chef with a flare for specials and skills in many different cuisines would be ideal.
We have a daily Chef cabinet, that changes weekly and ranges from, but is not limited to. Italian, Middle Eastern all the way to South East Asia. You would be working alongside our current kitchen team and managing, mentoring & guiding junior staff to assist in the day to day running of our kitchen.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Head the Kitchen team to produce our daily menu and creating weekly cabinet menus.
Organization and guidance of junior team to ensure running of the kitchen is cohesive.
Have a real passion for food, and enhancing our customer experience.
Great time management skills.
Requirements and skills
5+ years of experience as a Chef / Head Chef
Experience in all three aspects of the venue favored upon.
Cert IV in Commercial Cookery
Technical cooking skills and understanding of kitchen management
Experience in running a busy pass section and overlooking all dishes before leaving kitchen
Organized & clean
Excellent kitchen and staff management.
