Overview
We have a great leadership opportunity for a Senior Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant who will provide consultancy, advisory and operational WHS services to Eyre and Far North Local Health Network.
The Senior WHS Consultant facilitates continual improvement and legislative compliance, in accordance with relevant Acts, Regulations, Codes of Practice, Australian Standards and guidelines, including Work Health and Safety Act, Performance Standards and Accreditation Standards.
In this role, you will work in close partnership with senior management, managers, supervisors, employees and their representatives to facilitate the implementation of the WHS system across EFNLHN and contribute to identifying, assessing and controlling WHS risks. You will provide services including reviewing of incident and accident interventions, complex accident investigations and risk assessments, development of accident/injury prevention strategies, hazard management, WHS advice, monitoring of databases and systems, reviewing worksite safety inspection, hazardous substances reviews, hazards and incidents follow up, assistance with health and safety representatives (including election and register of elected representatives), participation on committees and in working parties and the promotion of safe practice and zero harm culture.
You will contribute to the development of EFNLHN specific WHS plans and the identification of priorities and in promoting, influencing and implementing new WHS initiatives. The Senior WHS Consultant is expected to contribute to policy and procedure development and review, together with active involvement in gap analysis and continuous quality activities.
Working in partnership with other staff within EFNLHN and across SA within Workforce Health and People & Culture portfolios, you will provide and exchange information for reporting and to facilitate WHS activities, such as EFNLHN specific auditing and training sessions.
As the Senior WHS Consultant, you will further the strategic directions for EFNLHN and facilitate the achievement of requirements of Cabinet and program targets and strategies.
Eligibility
Applicants are advised that whilst this initial contract is for 12 weeks, there will be a 7-month contract available immediately after this, followed by a permanent opportunity.
Current tertiary qualifications in WHS or other relevant discipline desirable but not essential.
The successful applicant will have:
- ability to demonstrate innovative thought and exercise initiative;

- high level of adaptability to changes in systems and strategies;
- ability to work co-operatively as an effective member of a team;
- high level time management skills;
- experience supervising and mentoring others.
