Position: Senior WHS Advisor
Location: Gold Coast
City Overview:
We are a local government with a large civil construction section dedicated to delivering exceptional projects for the community with a commitment to safety and quality. With a proven track record of excellence, we prioritise the Health and well-being of our employees above all else. As we continueto expand, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior WHS Advisor to join our team. The Senior advisor will report to the WHS Coordinator
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of WHS professionals to ensure we learn with the business and address all compliance and regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety programs and initiatives specifically tailored to high-risk construction environments.
- Regularly facilitate risk assessments and inspections to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, and employees on safety procedures and best practices.
- Investigate incidents, analyse systemic root causes, and drive the understanding of error normalisation to help develop help strategies to prevent recurrence.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies and industry groups to stay abreast of emerging trends and regulatory changes.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Work Health and Safety or equivalent knowledge.
- Significant experience in a similar role within high risk environments, civil construction industry is desirable.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing teams and driving results.
- In-depth knowledge of WHS regulations, codes of practice, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to risk management.
