Position Overview – Sous Chef
If you are an innovative chef with a knack for balancing quality with cost-effectiveness and you're ready to assist in leading a dynamic kitchen team in a collaborative environment, this is the job for you.
As the Sous Chef of the Crescent Hotel Hobart, you'll be assisting with running a kitchen that has quickly built a reputation for high quality, well priced pub food in a welcoming and unpretentious setting. Your job will be to collaborate and help steer the new direction of the kitchen whilst also paying respect to the style and format of food that has worked so well for the venue. You will not only have extensive kitchen experience, but also understand the importance of balancing high quality food offerings with a well-managed food budget.
Key Responsibilities
Lead by example / Develop the back of house team / Work in close collaboration with the venue leadership team / Deliver operational excellence in everything we do / Be inventive, drive revenue, introduce new ideas and opportunities / Own the back of house budget and deliver every month / Ensure we are always compliant in all that we do.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous chef in a high-volume restaurant or pub setting.
- An ability to co-create and execute menu changes with precision, focusing on innovative and delicious pub food with your own personal flair.
- A passion for creating exceptional food experiences and a commitment to quality and cost.
- A respectful and supportive leadership style that motivates and empowers our team.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and special events as needed.
- An ability to efficiently manage inventory, oversee stock and order in a timely, cost-effective manner that reduces wastage and decreases costs.
- Ability to handle challenges with a positive attitude and a solutions-oriented approach.
Position overview – Apprentice Chef
In addition we are looking for someone that has either started or is willing to start their Certificate 3 in commercial cookery and is excited to learn about this industry.
As the Apprentice Chef of the Crescent Hotel Hobart, you'll be assisting with food preparation and service as well as helping to monitor food quality, kitchen and equipment cleanliness plus other tasks as directed by the Sous Chef or Head Chef. We will teach you everything you need to know in a supportive and collaborative environment.
