Position Title: Speech Pathologist

Position Type: Part- Time -1 day a week

Location: Mount Waverley Heights Primary School (MWHPS)

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech Pathologist to join our dynamic team of educators and support staff. As a Speech Pathologist at MWHPS you will play a vital role in identifying and addressing communication disorders and difficulties in our students, empowering them to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, and communication disorders in students.
  • Develop and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to each student's specific needs and goals.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to integrate speech and language goals into the classroom curriculum and daily activities.
  • Monitor and document students' progress towards their speech and language goals, adjusting therapy plans as needed based on ongoing assessment data and observations.
  • Provide consultation, training, and support to teachers and other school staff on strategies for supporting students with communication disorders in the classroom.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress and develop comprehensive intervention plans.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessment results, therapy sessions, progress reports, and communication with parents and other professionals.
  • Stay informed about current research, best practices, and advancements in the field of speech-language pathology through ongoing professional development activities.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field.
  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with the Speech Pathology Association. 
  • Experience working as a Speech Pathologist in a school or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong assessment, therapy, and intervention skills, with a focus on individualized student support.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, teachers, and other professionals.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in the field of speech-language pathology.
  • Passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children and supporting their communication development and academic success.
