Job Details:
Job Summary:
Primary technical contact between the Customer, Design engineering and Operations. Manages the day to day provision of Engineering Support to System Operations. Plans, conducts and technically directs and tracks progress of projects. Develops and administers budgets, schedules and performance standards.
This position typically works under limited supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to short and long-term organisational planning and strategy as a business leader
- Provide strategic direction on the schedule to understand customer growth requirements and capture these for use by the team
- Establishes and monitors work priorities and schedules
- Responsible for cost, service level and schedule performance of all sub-cost center activities
- Works with the project and operational teams to develop Change Notices and Change Orders including defining the technical solution, estimating, schedule and technical write up
- Oversees the analysis of new software and hardware compatibility in line with ITIL frameworks
- Review requests from the customer to ensure they are within scope of relevant contracts. Negotiates terms as required
- Ensure that all SLA and KPI measures are met for activities undertaken by IT Operations teams
- Ensure continual improvement tasks are undertaken by teams
- Ensure all key systems and solutions are monitored in depth
- Ensure system business continuity and disaster recovery plans and work instructions exist for the key systems and solutions
- Provide recommendations for improvement regarding systems and architectures
- Develop specifications for new and existing capabilities
- Provide regular reporting to senior management as required
- Lead, develop and coach direct reports both informally and formally, assessing skills ensuring staff are aware of their goals and expected performance levels and providing regular feedback to improve performance
- Ensure necessary technical training, awareness and experience levels are maintained within the relevant teams and processes are well documented and followed

Minimum Job Requirements:
Qualifications
Essential:
- University degree, or equivalent education and experience, in software, electrical, mechanical, or system engineering or other related technical discipline
Skills/Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
- A minimum of ten years' experience in supporting systems and solutions in a complex IT environment
- A minimum of six years' experience in managing support teams with geographically dispersed team members
- Demonstrated experience in managing an IT Operational Service in accordance with the ITIL Framework
