About Emergency Relief and Support Directorate The purpose of the Emergency Relief and Support Directorate (ERS) is to reduce the immediate and long-term impact of emergencies on people and communities.
Under the WA State Emergency Management arrangements, the Department of Communities (Communities) is the prescribed support organisation responsible for providing and coordinating Emergency Relief and Support services in respect of an emergency arising from any of the 28 hazards prescribed in legislation. ERS supports the strength and resilience of people and communities by working in partnership to plan and prepare for emergencies and coordinates immediate and long-term support for people in the response and recovery phase of emergencies.
Amongst these positions there is a mix of dynamic frontline roles and back of house planning and Support roles, collectively working together with key stakeholders to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergency events and make a positive difference to people impacted by disasters. The Opportunity As a Strategy and Policy Officer, you will work closely with applicable ERS staff in all activities associated with the ERS Strategy and Policy function within WA, this includes: Contributing to the development, review and enhancement of Communities, State and Commonwealth policy, regulation and procedures, Assisting in developing, implementing and reviewing Communities, State and Commonwealth strategies and policies to support the delivery of Emergency Relief and Support services across Western Australia, Working collaboratively with partner agencies to build organisational and sector Emergency Relief and Support capability across the State and, Assisting with the strategic leadership of
State level and multi-regional recovery projects funded under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements.
