About your opportunity
Fixed Term Temporary full-time / 3 months with possible extension not exceeding 6 months
The role of Team LeaderHealth and Safety is to provide expert advice on all aspects of work Health and Safety practice, legislative duties and contemporary safety management systems to support the Townsville HHS in implementing effective systems of work with the specific aim of preventing injury and enhancing staff safety and wellness.
The role contributes to the development of a resilient safety culture through a program of continuous improvement initiatives which will assist in driving higher levels of safety performance outcomes. A resilient safety culture will also be evidenced by safety improvement outcomes which consistently exceed minimum compliance levels. The key success factor for the Health and Safety team is a sustained reduction in incident frequency and severity of injuries.
Skills and experience:
- Demonstrated expert knowledge and high-level professional advisory skills in relation to contemporary work, Health and Safety practices.
- Highly developed leadership, coaching and management capabilities, including the ability to develop a high performing team
- High level of proven oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with particular emphasis on consulting, liaising and negotiating with a wide range of clients/stakeholders and the preparation of high quality, concise and timely submissions to senior management, including ability to prepare briefing material on behalf of management.
- Demonstrated well-developed business acumen, the ability to lead and manage projects, meet deadlines and priorities, and to ensure resources are optimally allocated to meet defined goals, with a focus on continuous improvement, efficiency and excellence in service delivery and achievement of results at the organisational level.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, evidenced through experience in conversing effectively within complex organisational settings and in building positive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining safety management, assurance and compliance systems, and in identifying and mitigating current and emerging business risks around Health and Safety compliance and performance; .
Generous remuneration package value up to $12,000 p.m. comprising:
- Salary range of $4516.20 to $4837.70 p.f. (AO6)
- Annual leave with 17.5% loading
- 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements
- There are not mandatory qualifications for this position, however a qualification in Work Health and Safety would be highly regarded.
