An exciting permanent full-time opportunity has arisen in our Engineering Services team for aTechnical Officer - Engineering.
In this role, you will provide technical support and advice on engineering matters for the branch and directorate. You will also uphold and consistently demonstrate the City’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Integrity and Customer Service.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Assist with investigating traffic and road safety related matters
- Collate traffic, speed and crash data into a database and make recommendations for future Local Area Traffic Management (LATM) projects.
- Prepare correspondence and liaise with customers regarding engineering and technical queries and concerns
- Assist with responding to resident/ratepayer enquiries, as required
- Write Council reports providing technical data and recommendations enabling Councillors to make informed decisions
- Assess and approve crossover applications, adhering to the City’s agreed service levels;
- Assist in assessing subdivision and development applications as part of the city’s development control process
- Provide engineering and technical advice to external developers and to other branches
- Assist in the development and review of the City’s standards, specifications and policies for developments
- Assist with infrastructure inspections and liaise with builders and supervisors regarding reinstatement works.
- Carry out inspections of private development and public utility works to ensure compliance with conditions
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering
- 1 – 3 years of experience in similar role
- Highly developed interpersonal and customer service skills
- Comprehensive skills in the use of Microsoft Office suite, windows, and computer operating systems
- Sound knowledge of Australian Standards, Main Roads WA standards and AUSTROADS guidelines
- Knowledge in AutoCAD, Traffic Counting, MetroCount suite, Traffic Management and Basic Worksite Traffic Management (BWTM) Certificate desirable

Salary range: This position attracts a salary range of $89,250 to $95,000 plus11% employer superannuation with additional co-contribution.
