About Us
Join our dynamic Microbiology and Immunology Team as a Technical Officer in Food Science. You will play a crucial part in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of undergraduate teaching labs. Dive into the exciting realm of preparing, developing, designing and construction of experiments. Whether teaching, research or external engagement activities, you will play a pivotal role in managing the technical requirements that cater to the diverse needs of our university community.
The Role
As the Technical Officer in Food Science, you will oversee the organisation and support of designated teaching laboratory units in Biomedical Sciences. With a specialised focus on food Science and Nutrition within the School of Medical, Molecular and Forensic Sciences, you'll contribute your expertise to ensure the seamless functioning of the Microbiology and Immunology team. Your support extends beyond benefiting the entire technical team in achieving operational excellence.
Your Key duties will include:
- Manage and organise the delivery of practical teaching components.
- Under broad direction manage the budget for practical units.
- Collaborate with academic staff and unit coordinators on design of classes.
What you'll bring to this role
- A degree in Food Science and Nutrition or related area with at least two years relevant specialist expertise and knowledge; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Knowledge in the field of Food Science and Nutrition.
- An understanding of the theoretical principles and techniques used in Food Science and Nutrition.
- Organisational, time and workload management skills
- High level of computer literacy and proficiency in the production of high-level work using software.
