About You
Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Traffic Technical Officer that loves job variety and have experience in the field of technical operation requiring initiative and judgement in the selection and application of established principles, techniques and methods, including but not limited to: undertaking audits of worksites; providing recommendations and requesting improvements; providing technical advice on routes, legislation and permits and analysis of turning templates with regard to wide load interactions with Council infrastructure; conducting safety audits of school locations and providing technical advice regarding options to improve traffic management.
The Traffic Team
The Road Operations section is primarily engaged in traffic operations and corridor management activities that contribute to a safe and functional transport network. This includes not only the road corridor but also streetlighting, traffic signals, signage and parking infrastructure.
About the position
- There are 2 permanent full-time position based in Toowoomba CBD.
- The base salary for this position is $77,223.52 - $87,970.19 (negotiable depending on level of experience) gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

How to be successful in this position
Review the Position Description. for Level 4 and 5 mandatory qualification(s), training and/or experience, as outlined under the 'Success Criteria'.
- Demonstrated time management skills including the ability to plan and organise own work, establish priorities, achieve set and agreed performance and service standards, monitor workflows and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to set outcomes and further develop work methods, exercising initiative and judgement, where general work practices are not defined.
- High level of administrative skills particularly relating to correspondence, report writing and works inspections combined with highly developed interpersonal skills and ability to gain the cooperation of clients and staff.
- Extensive experience in road network management or similar with a high level of knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, design standards and principles applicable to Local Government engineering activities.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of statutory regulations, codes of practice, Toowoomba Regional Council programs, policies and activities, and the ability to apply them.
- Understanding of Commitment to Council’s Organisational Value and Behaviour in Teamwork.
