Coordinator Governance
Permanent Full-time Opportunity
35-hour work week (Variable day off every 19 days)
Salary Ranging from $113,965.28 - $132,446.08 p.a + 11% Superannuation, Market Allowance (Depending on Experience, Skillset & Qualifications relevant to the role)

 

The Opportunity

The Coordinator Governance is responsible for the development and implementation of Council’s Governance framework seeking to achieve optimum outcomes for the organisation and to enable achievement of Council’s strategic objectives. The position is responsible for promoting good governance, maintaining probity of Council’s decision-making processes, and assisting with the implementation of Council’s Policy, and Legislative Compliance Frameworks and ensuring awareness and currency of administration and governance practices and policies.

This senior specialist role provides multi-functional advice to all departments and the Executive team and will work to continually review and implement improvements to Council’s Governance framework.

Essential Criteria

  1. Tertiary qualification in law, corporate governance, public policy, business or related discipline and extensive experience in a governance related role.
  2. Demonstrated knowledge and skill in development and implementation of guidelines, policies, and procedures in accordance with the relevant legislation and professional standards.
  3.  Sound knowledge of Local Government legislation and processes including experience in the administration and interpretation of the Local Government Act and Regulation and other legislation relevant to the position.
  4. Demonstrated experience in complex report writing, strategy and plan development and ensuring compliance and statutory reporting requirements.
  5. Demonstrated experience in developing and embedding a strong ethical and governance culture within an organisation, including engaging with internal stakeholders such as senior management to ensure a positive ethical culture is maintained.
  6. Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively in cross-disciplinary teams.
  7. Proven ability to lead a team, manage workloads, and flexibility to meet changing priorities.
  8. Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify solutions to more complex problems.
  9. Be willing to undertake a National Police Check before commencing.
