The role

The Water Recycling Plant Technical Support Engineer plays an important role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of South East Water's Water Recycling Plants (WRP). With a focus on safety, efficiency, and regulatory adherence, this position involves providing expert technical process support to WRP operations; from reviewing data to identifying opportunities for reducing the carbon footprint, the engineer plays a crucial role in optimising plant performance. They also contribute to strategic initiatives, policy development, and project management, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements. By staying abreast of legislative changes and incorporating them into operational plans, the engineer ensures that South East Water remains at the forefront of best practices in water treatment.

Who are you?

Your bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or a related field, coupled with extensive experience in the wastewater sector make you an ideal candidate for this opportunity. Demonstrated commitment to safety and proficiency in hazard identification and control is paramount, alongside a proven track record of making sound technical decisions. Proficiency in analytical tools coupled with the ability to think innovatively and independently, is essential. Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, are highly desirable.

The successful candidate will have experience in liaising with consultants and stakeholders, coupled with a solid understanding of sewage treatment processes, odour control, PLC/SCADA systems, and HACCP quality management. Knowledge of regulatory frameworks pertaining to sewage treatment and reuse is also crucial. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for effective information dissemination to various stakeholders.
