The Opportunity
FIFO / DIDO Casual Chef with Full time opportunity!

You will be responsible for delivering buffet-style meals for remote mine-site village operations.
The point of hire is Perth and you will work an 2/1 roster on one of our very friendly villages located in regional WA ( North and East )
The Role
- Working independently with one Kitchen Utility worker and report to Village Manager
- Buffet style bulk cooking for Dinner and Dessert
- Ensure OH&S compliance, adhering to safe work practices, food handling procedures and cleanliness in accordance with Iconic Catering standards
- Maintain minimal wastage
- Support the Village Manager with food costs and budgets as per contractual agreement
- Support the Village Manager in ordering and managing stock inventory
- Adhere to the HACCP methodology, ensuring that all documentation in relation to food safety is maintained on a daily basis and periodically throughout the day, including temperature monitoring, stock control and rotation
The Person
. To be successful, you will need the following skills and experience:
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Problem solving skills with ability to remain calm under pressure
- High volume bulk catering experience
- Excellent knowledge of all kitchen procedures and operations
- Ability to keep to a budget and keep accurate records
- Experience in managing stock and cost control
- Passion for providing exceptional customer service
- Understanding of Food Safety principles and the HACCP methodology
- Ability to pass pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol screening and national police clearance
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintain a high quality of catering service on site ensuring that high standards are met at all times in:
- Preparing, cooking, and presenting meals, baking of breads and cooking pastries, preparing crib meals, including salads and meats; - Ensure that Food Safety standards are met at all times in relation to food preparation, cooking, cleaning and sanitising;
- Supervise Utilities or any other kitchen staff as and when required;
- Support the Village Manager in managing stock and ordering supplies;
- Minimise waste, and ensure the correct and timely disposal of all consumable and waste products;
- Participate in the stock taking process as required; and
- Support the Head Chef with budgets and minimising costs within the department.
To be successful, you will have:
Role Qualifications
Essential
- Australian Citizenship, or full Australian working rights
- A valid WA C-Class (Manual) Drivers License as a minimum
- Minimum 2 years work experience on a remote mine-site village
- Able to obtain a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months of applying)
- Minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
- Food Safety / HACCP knowledge and certification
- Able to undergo a Pre-Employment Medical, Fitness for Work Assessment, Drug and Alcohol Screening and attend site specific inductions;
- Ability to complete manual handling tasks with a keen safety awareness.
Desired
- A valid First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011- Provide First Aid)- within 3 years
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems
