Job description

Academic Manager Electrical and Electronic Systems Wing 
Full time Ongoing 
About The Role 

In consultation with and under the direction of the Manager, Army School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (ASEME), the objective of this position is to oversee the delivery of accredited Trade Training within the Electrical and Electronic Systems Wing at ASEME. 

The Academic Manager EESW will be responsible for the delivery of scheduled training courses which includes development tasks such as development/design services for course related training/learning/assessment materials. A core aspect of the role is continuous improvement and innovation which is conducted in consultation with the highly experienced team. 

The successful applicant will provide strong leadership to the Department, maintaining a positive workplace culture and ensuring that high quality education and training continues to drive business growth and the success of department objectives. 


Duties: 

  • Coordinate and supervise resources associated with the programs primarily within, but not limited to ASEME Base and Advanced Trade Training programs.  
  • Manage a team of staff involved in the identification, development, delivery, and assessment of vocational education and training. 
  • Manage the design, development, delivery, and evaluation of innovative, customised, high quality vocational education and training products and services.  
  • Induct staff.  
  • Coordinate the administrative requirements of the delivery of designated programs. 
  • Produce survey and quote (S&Q) services and submissions in conjunction with other senior educators and teachers as required.  
  • Manage training needs analysis and skills audits for ASEME.  
  • Provide specialist skills as appropriate, utilising Wodonga TAFE’s resources to ensure appropriate guidance is provided to teachers and ASEME staff.  
  • Apply counselling skills as appropriate, utilising institute resources to ensure appropriate guidance is provided to Wodonga TAFE teachers. 
  • Conduct action-based research and prepare briefing papers on curriculum, teaching or management services as appropriate. 
  • Maintain program operations data as per audit requirements and quality procedures inclusive of assisting in the development and implementation of quality systems within the department. 
  • Ensure graduation candidates are verified. 
  • Ensure student results are submitted and completed in accordance with Wodonga TAFE requirements. 
  • Develop individualised self-paced learning materials. 
  • Develop and implement assessment systems. 
About You 

Skills & Experience 

Academic and trade qualifications combined with teaching and vocational experience in the field of Electrotechnology and demonstrated experience as detailed below: 

Qualification (Academic or Trade)        Work Experience (Years) 

Bachelor Degree (or equivalent)                                 2 

Two-year post year 12 Diploma (or equivalent)         3 

Certificate IV (or equivalent)                                        4 

Certificate III (or equivalent)                                        8 

  • Must be eligible for a Defence Security Pass maintaining Baseline Security Clearance. 
  • Satisfactory National Police Records Check. 
  • Current Victorian Working with Children Check. 
  • Current valid Driver's Licence   
  • Must be an Australian citizen
