Comcare has several Ongoing Vacancies for a APS6 Senior Assurance Officers in the Secretariat and Scheme Support Services Team, in either Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane.
Overview of the Team and role
The Assurance team has responsibility for ensuring compliance against the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) and Work Health & Safety ACT 2011 (WHS Act) scheme related issues. This includes providing assurance that entities operating under the SRC Act and WHS Act are doing so consistently and in compliance with legislative requirements.
Under the SRC Act, Comcare is required to provide the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Commission (SRCC) with such secretarial and other assistance and make available the services of Comcare’s staff and such other resources, as the SRCC reasonably require.
The SRCC is a statutory body separate to Comcare. The Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) allows certain Commonwealth authorities and eligible corporations to apply to the SRCC for a licence to self-insure their workers' compensation liabilities and/or claims management.
A self-insurance licence sets out the conditions that licensees must meet to remain compliant with the SRCC’s requirements of self-insurance.
The Senior Assurance Officer will take a lead role in a small sub-team that provides assurance that entities operating under the SRC Act & WHS Act are doing so consistently and in compliance with legislative obligations.
To do this, they will oversee and undertake a range of assurance activities, such as audits and desktop reviews. They will also support the development and maintenance of associated processes and procedures.
