About the Role
An exciting opportunity exists for a Registered Nurse to assist with clinical research in the Clinical Electrophysiology department, based in the Heart Centre at the Alfred Hospital. The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills, a commitment to high standards of clinical research, computer literacy and the ability to effectively manage research data. The Arrhythmia Research Nurse will be employed to manage current and new Electrophysiology research studies, both investigator-led and industry based under the direction of Professor Peter Kistler and associated members of the Electrophysiology team.
Key Duties
In this role you will be expected to:
- Screen, recruit and consent of participants, and if applicable be involved in the ongoing informed consent process.
- Record clear and accurate research data, manage research data, and assist with data entry.
- Undertake health assessments as per standardised protocols for voluntary research participants.
- Ensure all biological samples are collected, stored and processed as per study protocol and applicable storage and handling regulations.
- Deliver standardised risk assessments based on measured /self-reported risk factors to provide health education and advice to research participants.
- Provide administrative support to achieve project deliverables in a timely manner.
- Assist with and participate in promotional activities to support recruitment of participants to research studies.
Skills and Experience
You will have:
- Current Division 1 Registered Nurse, with specialisation in Cardiology Critical Care preferred.
- Research experience preferred, including a demonstrated capacity to produce measurable research outcomes.
- Proven ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously without close supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy requirements.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills, including the ability to manage a range of tasks with conflicting priorities.
- Competence with computer software programs and electronic databases, such as Excel, Word, Outlook and Power Point.
- Experience in the preparation of Human Research Ethics Committee and Grant applications would be an advantage.
- Completion of Good Clinical Research Practice training.
