We believe that diversity of thought, knowledge and lived experience enrich our workplace and contribute to a more inclusive and innovative environment for our people and the community.We are looking for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leaders who are strongly committed to making a real and significant impact in improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.About the roleThe Assistant Director General Aboriginal Outcomes is a highly influential position focussed on delivering high-level commitments of the Department, the State and the Commonwealth to achieve positive Aboriginal outcomes. You will be responsible for leading an outcome driven approach across:

  • Cultural Competence and Responsiveness, improve the cultural capability and cultural competence of Communities,
  • Best Practice Partnerships, inform, guide and develop culturally responsive and fit for purpose ways of working with Aboriginal people,
  • Aboriginal Workforce Support, facilitate culturally safe and informed service delivery and practices and a culturally safe and supported Aboriginal workforce to position Communities as an employer of choice for Aboriginal people,
  • Strategy and Accountability, coordinate Communities’ response to priority reform initiatives, such as the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, Aboriginal Economic Reform and Aboriginal Cultural Capability Reform Program.
As a member of the Communities Leadership Team, this position plays a key leadership role for the Department in supporting the Director General; setting the strategic business direction; and the achievement of corporate goals. The role operates with a high degree of autonomy.You will need to embody our and have genuine commitment to high levels of integrity, accountability, effective governance and transparency.This full time, Senior Executive Service position offers a fixed-term appointment of up to five (5) years and is based in Fremantle.The attached Job Description Form (JDF) provides more information about the position.
