About the role...
This well respected Barristers' Chambers are seeking a 2nd to 4th year level Litigation Lawyerwho is looking for their next step in their career path and no longer wishes to practice as a Lawyer.
In this position, you will play a pivotal role in acting as an agent to the legal profession on behalf of their Barristers (including Silks, Kings Counsel & Senior Counsel), who practice in a wide range of areas of law. You will be be responsible for running the business activities and administration of a Barristers' Chamber including the general work programme of the Barristers' to the best of your ability. This role is integral to the success of the Chambers business.
Your duties will include:
- Communicating with clients, court staff, solicitors, other chambers and various outside agencies
- Dealing with telephone enquiries from law firms/solicitors and providing recommendations on behalf of Barristers based on experience and availability
- Attending court listing meetings and representing their chambers' interests
- Attending marketing functions on behalf of the Barristers' Chambers
- Collecting and delivering documents
- Maintaining and updating court lists
- Maintaining and filing briefs/instructions
- Arranging court listings via the telephone
- Fee billing
- Diary management
To be successful in this role it is envisaged that you will have at least 2 years, possibly up to 4 years background & experience in Litigation (ideally Supreme & Federal Court level). You will utilise your outstanding communication skills (written & verbal) and you will be familiar with court procedures and etiquette.
Crucial to your success, you will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence, negotiate and build strong working relationships with a diverse range of clientele.
