Key Accountabilities
As the Design Manager for the Algoda Solar Farm Project, your responsibilities include:
- Defining the winning design strategy and securing the best-for-project design teams from the pursuit stage.
- Planning and managing all design-related aspects throughout the project lifecycle to ensure successful project outcomes. Administering design consultants' contracts and overseeing the overall design process in line with budget and program requirements.
- Leading and managing the design consultants to achieve safety, quality, budgetary, and time frame objectives.
- Fostering interaction between design and construction teams to maximize innovation and project success. Managing client and stakeholder expectations while supervising and mentoring project design management team members.
- Promoting ACCIONA's technical excellence externally and contributing to internal initiatives to enhance engineering and design management practices. Defining engineering scope, proposing design strategies, and managing design consultants' inputs during the tender process.
- Leading the Design Management Team (DMT) throughout the tender and delivery period, ensuring coordination across design disciplines. Setting up delivery design management plans, protocols, and processes to ensure compliance with project documentation requirements.
- Monitoring progress against design and construction programs, tracking costs, and promoting optimization and innovation. Providing support and technical assistance during Construction Phase Services (CPS) as needed. Actively seeking opportunities for self-development and promoting capability-building within the DMT.
- Monitoring implementation of training development plans and annual objectives/KPIs for DMT members.
- Promoting a behavioral-based safety culture and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Minimum Qualifications &/or Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- Solid knowledge of design management, processes, and tools.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with relevant standards and regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
- Ability to work autonomously and travel as required.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in the design and construction of infrastructure projects.
- Minimum 5 years working as a designer in disciplines such as rail, road, tunnel, substation, renewables, geotechnical, or structural design.
- Proven track record of managing teams and delivering multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects on time and budget.
