About us
The Victorian Woodworkers Association Inc, founded in 1979, is the leading woodcraft guild in Victoria. Its diverse membership includes professional designer/makers and wood artists, serious amateurs, students and industry organisations. The VWA operates the Wood Design Centre (WDC), a well-equipped workshop space at the Meat Market Arts Centre in North Melbourne. From here it runs a woodworking School, teaching 3 hour woodworking classes of 10 people five days a week. The WDC also provides an incubator space for five emerging woodworkers, who are able to lease studio space for subsidised rates for a 3 year period.
Qualifications & experience
- Experience of management, including in community-based organisations Demonstrated skills and experience in business development Excellent communication and negotiation skills An understanding of woodwork and fine furniture construction would be an advantage but is not essential
Tasks & responsibilities
- Investigate potential new business activities which could be undertaken by the VWA to support woodworkers and generate income for the VWA. Prioritise these activities and work with the VWA committee to implement them. Coordinate the overall functioning of the VWA workshop in North Melbourne.
