About the opportunity

As the Children’s services coordinator your primary responsibility is to collaborate with homelessness and family violence services in the Gippsland region to address the needs of children in these situations.

You will also:

  • Offer guidance, information, support, and resources to the Wellington Homelessness Services Program and other service providers in the Gippsland area.
  • Engage in ongoing education and professional development for sector-relevant skills and knowledge.
  • Collaborate with Local Area Services Networks and service providers to identify needs of accompanying children.
  • Identify and facilitate practitioner training in consultation with Gippsland Homelessness Services and Family Violence sector.
  • Provide secondary consultations to staff in Homeless and Family Violence sectors on issues related to children experiencing homelessness and family violence.

About you

To be successful in your application, you will meet the person specification in the position description, including having a relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Welfare Studies, or other equivalent and related disciplines.

You will also have:

  • Experience in community development, including networking and relationship building.
  • Experience working independently with minimal supervision, as well as ability to work as part of a collaborative multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in the Homelessness Sector service delivery or working with Children in other sectors.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the gendered nature of family violence, and commitment to intersectional practice.
