About the role

As a Commercial Accountant, you will act as a business partner to our Tool Kit Depot (TKD) business within the Bunnings Commercial team.

Reporting to our Head of Finance – Commercial, you will directly support and influence our TKD Leadership team to deliver commercial growth plans in line with the strategic agenda.

This role will be based out of our state-of-the-art Melbourne Support Office, with hybrid working options available.

What's involved:

• Work cross functionally to assist in business case development, setting clear and measurable KPI’s, reporting and analysis of key outcomes and timely delivery of ad hoc requests
• Oversee the planning process for the business including annual corporate plan, budget and monthly forecasting
• Create, analyse and review data driven work within the team
• Ensure month end accounting and close requirements are accurately completed in line with business timelines
• Drive accountability to business targets, including focus on driving out cost and maximising margin outcomes
• Develop and maintain strong relationships across the TKD Leadership Team to develop a deep understanding of strategic plans

Who we’re looking for

Bringing demonstrated experience from previous business partnering engagements, you will be comfortable working in an environment where there are changing business needs and have a deep understanding of macro trends impacting financial outcomes.

You will be an effective communicator with well-developed experience engaging with stakeholders at varied levels (both finance and non-finance) to build trusted relationships, adding strategic and operational value.  

You will be commercially minded, data driven, and customer focused, with the ability to utilise financial information to influence positive commercial outcomes. You will be comfortable working at pace, with the ability to work autonomously and manage timelines effectively.

You’ll need:

• Demonstrated experience working in a similar role, with solid experience working in a fast paced finance function
• CA or CPA qualified
• Degree qualified in accounting or commerce
• Strong financial modelling skills
• Experience using Power BI or Cognos would be highly regarded
• Exceptional stakeholder management skills with demonstrated stakeholder influencing
• Ability to analyse complex challenges and deliver insightful, practical solutions, with a creative flair
