Job description
As the needs of our customers change, so do we.
At AGL, we believe progress is powered by our people.
If you’re set on making real change for tomorrow, we have the scale, resources and ambition to get it started today.
Now’s an extraordinary time to work with us. We’re taking the lead on renewables and expanding our products to make them more sustainable, affordable and useful for all Australians.
That’s what we call progress. To achieve it, we’re bringing together people with unique stories, perspectives, backgrounds and talent – and we need yours too!
About the Role:
As we progress our decarbonisation strategy and move towards a renewable energy future, AGL is transitioning our thermal generation sites into low-emissions industrial energy hubs which will deliver low-carbon solutions across a range of industries, not just energy. We are actively exploring the development of new industrial and commercial facilities at our Energy Hubs and have a number of opportunities in the early development phase.
As the Commercial Development Manager for Energy Hubs, you will lead commercial negotiations with key industry partners and be an integral part of a team engaging with Government and communities to implement the Energy Hub vision, a cornerstone of the AGL Energy strategy.
You will work across a portfolio of development projects to develop business cases and create and implement optimal project commercial structures. Specific accountabilities include:
Lead the development process for key partnering opportunities through the feasibility stage, to enable AGL and its Partners to complete their respective technical and commercial assessments
Support the development and negotiation of commercial structures for leases and product supply agreements
Lead the preparation of business cases, incorporating financial and non-financial opportunities and exposures, to support investment in infrastructure and long term contract commitments
About You:
You will be able to translate innovative thinking into practical, commercial solutions that provide energy and decarbonisation solutions for partners at our Energy Hubs. You will have a passion to drive towards a low-carbon future and implement the Energy Hubs model for AGL and our industry partners. If you are an emerging leader in technical and/or commercial development we can mentor and support you to set you up for success.
What you bring to the table:
Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Commercial, Legal, Project Management or similar disciplines
Experience in either project management, commercial stucturing or brownfield development projects, from within the energy industry or a related industry such as mining or manufacturing.
An interest in and aptitude for commercial negotiation, contract development and contract management
The ability to deal with ambiguity and uncertainty in order to achieve risk optimised decision making
A demonstrated ability to manage a broad portfolio of projects
Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
We are looking for innovative solutions so we encourage candidates with big ideas and the capability to back them up, even if you don’t match every criteria. We’d love to see your application, submitted by Monday 17th April.
