The Hub Leader role is entirely frontline-facing, overseeing a range of functions to ensure the delivery of superior services to our people in a seamless way. The Director, APAC IT Operations will be the Hub Leader for the APAC service hub and play a vital role towards the regions in boosting the end-user experience ensuring smooth delivery of top-notch services, and meeting & exceeding the expectations of the end-users.
What you'll do:
Management & decision-making responsibilities
- Participate as a key member of the front-line services leadership team, working regularly to grow and shape the FLS organization improving end-user experience
- Drive towards common standards & Standard Operating procedures, and ensure that the hubs are not implementing siloed solutions, unless a strong business case
- Establish and ensure adherence to standard working practices across the function
- Operational decision-making in the hub on e.g. network implementation, as long as it doesn't deviate from global standards
- Ensure that the day-to-day operations are functioning according to expectations
- Gather, compile & communicate regional needs & priorities to enterprise functions from a Hub perspective
- Provide input to budget & financing for the enterprise functions from the Hub
- Establish the specific budget in terms of required resources within the Hub
- Build long-term relationships with direct reports and team members across the regions, becoming a trusted leader and advisor. Effectively act as a remote line leader for geographically dispersed team members
- Promote continuous improvement within the Hub & empower dedicated the team
- Manage, coach, and mentor employees. Deliver timely performance feedback and counsel staff in career/performance development
- Establish and support an environment in which all personnel can develop and apply their talents to meet organizational and individual goals
- Identify gaps in skills and resource capacity within the hub, and participate (and sometimes) drive the recruitment
- Define the suggested capacity on the number of FTEs required per region for OSS
- Ability to communicate to both operations-oriented employees and business executives, as well as employees across regions and enterprise functions
- Ability to adapt communication styles, depending on the audience. Actively listen during discussions/meetings, ask open-ended questions and receive and provide feedback
- Presentation skills conveying messages in a clear and easy-understandable way
You're likely to have or be able to demonstrate complementary skills and experience in the following areas:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in a technical/Computer Science field and/or equivalent work experience.
- Professional certification (ITIL) is preferred but not mandatory.
- Minimum of 15+ years of experience in a similar role in IT Operations
- Industry experience from the Engineering Design industry
- Experience or knowledge in the following areas would be an advantage:
- Risk Management
- IT Service Management
- Strong teamwork skills across matrixed client, supplier, and geographically dispersed virtual teams.
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Good negotiation and resolution skills
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written in English, Cantonese, and Putonghua
- Ability to work within diverse, global, virtual teams.
- Proven ability to thrive under pressure.
