About your new role:

Contribute to the growth of Energy Queensland’s distribution network by providing design services to our business! We have an opportunity for a Distribution Design TechnicalOfficer located in Cairns.

This position provides leadership, mentoring, and technical direction for their workgroup. Utilise your Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering and be responsible for the coordination, design and management of multi-disciplinary Distribution Design projects all the way from tendering to design acceptance and payment.

There will be plentiful collaboration in this challenging yet rewarding role, where you will be working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to achieve project outcomes in accordance with work practices, standards and regulations in safe, timely and efficient manner.

The remuneration for your new role is from $ 128,196 plus 12.75% super for a 9-day fortnight and from $144,862 plus 12.75% super for a 10-day fortnight. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of your knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position.

About you:

Important to your success in the role is your:

  • Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification is essential.
  • Certificate IV or Diploma (Cert V) in Electrical Supply Industry or equivalent qualification.
  • Extensive knowledge of distribution and sub-transmission lines design and associated standards.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the construction and maintenance of electricity distribution networks.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to work as part of a team and provide training, coaching and technical support to individuals and teams.
  • Ability to communicate, liaise, influence, and negotiate with a variety of customer stakeholders and staff groups both within and beyond EQL.
  • Experience using design and survey programs and related gear.

Candidates without an AD in Electrical Engineering but are close to attaining the qualification may be considered for the role subject to their level of Design experience. Appointment would be conditional upon the successful completion of the AD in a reasonable amount of time (~6 months).
