OPERATIONS MANAGER

Our client is a leading primary producer with a large scale Dryland Cropping operation located in North-West NSW, to the south west of Mungindi. We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual to take on the role of Operations Manager.
The farm is one block of very open country, allowing for long runs. Current machinery includes 80ft planters, and 60ft fronts on the headers allowing for quick and efficient seeding and harvest, with a focus on quality. All spraying is handled by contractors, as is the outloading of grain. We are seeking hands-on, committed, high calibre applicants who possess a passion for the industry. As Operations Manager, your role will have a strong focus on management of permanent and casual staff and their day to day operations, and the machinery maintenance and scheduling, but you will also be responsible for:
- Management and guidance across all operations, planning and scheduling, and overseeing the day to day running of a broadacre Dryland Cropping property;
- Being accountable for quality, productivity & efficiency of the business & it's employees.
- Involvement in farm budgeting, procurement & other finances.
- Ensuring the effective and efficient use and operation of modern farming techniques and a focus on sustainable economic and environmental outcomes, so as to maximise the financial return on investment.
- 5+ years of practical experience in broadacre cropping and recent experience in a similar capacity. ie. 2IC/Assistant Manager/Ops Management
- A high attention to detail in all aspects of farming operations
- Experience in operating and maintaining a range of modern farming machinery
- Familiarisation with GPS technology
- Experience with drainage maps is desirable.
- Leadership skills - ability to manage and supervise permanent and upto 20 casual staff at harvest
- Chemical accreditation and application experience
- Accurate record keeping
- A keen interest in agronomy
- Adherence to OH&S regulations
- Formal qualifications in agriculture or a trade is desirable
