Scope and Purpose of the Position

The Facilities Manager is responsible for the oversight, coordination and maintenance of school facilities infrastructure, Work Health and Safety procedures and support, and facilities operational processes, property and plant at Marian Catholic College.

The position plays a key role in assisting the Principal and Business Manager in the provision of a contemporary, safe and sustainable learning environment.

The Facilities Manager has oversight of the work of the Grounds and Maintenance team, supervising processes for operational, environmental and buildings site management. This includes supervision of cleaning staff and contracts, hazards and buildings repairs and related responsibilities.

The Manager must have the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to ensure the efficient services and function of the School, including supporting leaders with the coordination of approved School events and activities.

The Facilities Manager must adhere to Diocesan and School Protocols and Procedure and maintain confidentiality of all matters relating to the School Community.

Essential Criteria

  • Current Working with Childrens Check
  • Meet all employment and compliance checks for CEDWW
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Current First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain
  • Undergo the completion of Functional Assessment

Job Specific Qualifications

  • Certificate, Diploma and/or a trade or tertiary qualification or working towards a qualification in Facilities Management, School Site Management or Industry project or compliance management;
  • Or a related discipline such as a trade; construction; architecture;, facilities coordinator or equivalent.
  • Minimum two years experience in facilities, maintenance, planning/scheduling and/or project management or similar.
  • Knowledge and commitment to safe work practises and Work Health and safety policies and procedures, including Knowledge of safe lifting and manual handling techniques.
  • Familiar with safe working at heights practices is desirable.
  • Experience in the use of a variety of IT systems and software including the creation and maintenance of risk registers, ticketing applications, etc.

  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, direct and project manage College upgrades and to work autonomously, flexibly and productively and as a member of the College management team, WHS team and others as appropriate.
  • Thorough problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to complete physical tasks where necessary.
  • Ability to identify risks to child safety and take all practical measures to protect students where a risk has been identified.
  • Ability to respond promptly to school and staff needs; triage and manage requests; solicit feedback to improve service; respond to requests for service and assistance.
  • A commitment to and knowledge of child safety policies and procedures.
