Everyone who works within Roses in the Ocean has a lived experience of suicide which is defined as ‘having experienced suicidal thoughts, survived a suicide attempt, cared for someone through suicidal crisis, or been bereaved by suicide.’

About the Role

The Finance Administrator role is to support the General Manager of Finance ensuring that accounts, payments and bank reconciliations are accurately and efficiently processed. This role will be particularly busy at certain times of the year, such as when they are preparing and finalising month-end and year-end accounts, audits and reports. 

This is a varied and dynamic role requiring keen attention to detail, exceptional interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to manage numerous short, medium and long-term projects at any given time.

This is a part-time role, around 30 hours per week, which can be worked flexible hours across 4-5 days per week.

While no two days are the same, some of the key responsibilities will be:

  • Processing payroll and superannuation for employees and contractors
  • Salary packaging processes (with the help of an external provider) 
  • Processing expense reimbursements and credit card reconciliations for employees, volunteers and contractors
  • Raising of purchase orders, processing invoices, and management of operational expenditure
  • Assisting with the raising of Invoices and on charging of reimbursable amounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Assisting the General Manager of Finance with monitoring the performance of the various business units to the budget
  • Assisting the General Manager of Finance with the annual Auditing process
  • Working with the People and Culture Business Partner to facilitate changes to the payroll and salary packaging system, including on-boarding and off-boarding employees and contractors from the financial and HR system and ensuring data integrity between the systems 
  • Assisting with compliance with regulatory bodies including ASIC, ACNC, ATO, Department of Social Services (Harm Prevention Register), various State Offices of Fair Trading (in relation to fundraising compliance), various state-based workers compensation bodies.
  • Assisting the General Manager of Finance with financial compliance and monitoring of funding agreements, activities and amounts against budgets and deliverables

You’ll bring with you:

  • A lived experience of suicide and an understanding of the impact it has on families, workplaces, friends, and communities.
  • Suitable qualifications and experience to perform financial administration and bookkeeping activities 
  • Experience in managing competing priorities, complex tasks and coordinating activities across numerous business functions and team members.
  • High-level written and oral communication skills and the ability to communicate and liaise effectively and sensitively at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality and professional standards of behaviour in difficult and sensitive circumstances. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively and to build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ablity to work autonomously and demonstrate time-management, logistics and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to identify potential efficiencies and build the capacity of the finance function for the benefit of the organisation 
  • Tech-savvy with a broad understanding of how to effectively navigate various digital applications, including Xero, Microsoft suite (Sharepoint, Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint), office 365 and Monday.com
