We are currently on the lookout for an experienced chef or cook to fill a position in our restaurant “Flame Brothers Restaurant & Bar" in Halls Gap. The right candidate will have a good knowledge of current trends, be passionate & creative, and possess the ability to work both alone and with a team.
The role on offer is Full time, 5 days a week. We currently operate 7 days a week, breakfast lunch & dinner so there is also certain flexibility within rostering.
Our menu is built around American BBQ. We smoke all our meats daily on a 34” diameter offset smoker. Any experience with smoking meats is advantageous although not essential.
You must have the right to work in Australia, and preferably be looking for a long-term position. Remuneration is a negotiable and will be offered in line with experience & skill level.
Your duties will include things such as:
· Set up the kitchen with cooking utensils
· Study each recipe and gather all necessary ingredients
· Cook food in a timely manner
· Inform wait staff about daily specials as required
· Ensure appealing plate presentation
· Supervise Junior Cooks and assist as needed
· Slightly modify recipes to meet customers’ needs and requests (e.g. reduce salt, remove dairy)
· Assist with monitoring food stock and place orders
· Check freshness of food and discard out-of-date items as directed
· Assist with experimenting with recipes and suggesting new ingredients
· Compliance with all health and safety regulations within the kitchen area
The position is available for an immediate start. We may be able to assist with finding accommodation in the area. We are in regional VIC so it would be beneficial for the applicant if they have their own mode of transport as public transport options are limited.
