Your New role
  
The Gallery currently has a fantastic opportunity for a Gallery Production Coordinator to join their team. The Gallery Production Coordinator will be responsible for the overall maintenance of the Gallery’s building and facilities including workplace health and safety. The role works closely with the Gallery’s exhibition staff to plan, and coordinate exhibition installations.

In this role you will

  • Work with the Director, Gallery Manager and Exhibitions and Collections teams, artists and curators to plan and implement exhibition installation and de-installation on time and within budget.
  • Develop schematic layouts, technical specifications and detailed plans enabling other teams and contractors to meet the requirements of the exhibitions and associated programs.
  • Supervise and coordinate the working hours of a casual pool of installation coordinators to meet the needs of the Gallery exhibition program.
  • Source building, installation and technical/ electronic materials appropriate for installation, within budget.
  • Identify and provide/ facilitate training to Gallery and install staff where required on safe and appropriate use of tools, machinery and installation processes.
  • Maintain Gallery exhibition and workshop spaces, including Gallery lighting, electronics/ technology, storage spaces, didactics, constructions and associated tools and equipment, meeting University H&S standards.
  • Maintain inventory of all exhibition and presentation hardware and equipment including AV and lighting hardware, undertaking safety checks, servicing and repair.
  • Organise and coordinate building maintenance issues as required, including workshop, art stack, loading dock cleaning and maintenance.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for all aspects of operations including safety, hazardous substances, equipment, and workspaces.
  • Ensure that all artworks are handled and stored to industry standards and follow protocols and guidelines developed by Gallery, including, but not limited to artwork handling and condition reporting, records management and administration systems.
 Essential Requirements:
Prior to the appointment, the preferred candidate will need to have:  
  • Relevant experience and expertise working in an art gallery or similar.
  • Knowledge of, and commitment to ensuring, Occupational Safety and Health practices and regulations are followed.
  • A First Aid certificate.
You will require current work rights in Australia that match the tenure of this role.
