About the role

As Governance Officer you’ll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, facilitating transparent decision-making processes and maintaining the highest standard of governance across our organisation.
In this role, you will undertake duties such as:
- Providing a high-level customer service and administration
- Liaise with elected members as well as internal/external stakeholders
- Compile and distribute Council agendas, minutes and documentation
- Attend Council meetings (after hours required) for minute taking
- Liaise with staff for information to respond to enquiries from elected members and the public
- Maintain compliance with the Local Government Act 1995
- Assist in preparation of Council elections
What we’re looking for:
- Sound understanding of the Local Government Act 1995
- Experience in a similar role is highly regarded
- Excellent administrative skills including ability to write accurately with attention to detail
- A pro-active problem solver who works effectively and efficiently
- A customer-focussed team player
- Excellent time management and organisation skills
