Governance Officer

About the role

As Governance Officer you’ll have the opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, facilitating transparent decision-making processes and maintaining the highest standard of governance across our organisation.

In this role, you will undertake duties such as:

• Providing a high-level customer service and administration
• Liaise with elected members as well as internal/external stakeholders
• Compile and distribute Council agendas, minutes and documentation
• Attend Council meetings (after hours required) for minute taking
• Liaise with staff for information to respond to enquiries from elected members and the public
• Maintain compliance with the Local Government Act 1995
• Assist in preparation of Council elections

What we’re looking for:

• Sound understanding of the Local Government Act 1995
• Experience in a similar role is highly regarded
• Excellent administrative skills including ability to write accurately with attention to detail
• A pro-active problem solver who works effectively and efficiently
• A customer-focussed team player
• Excellent time management and organisation skills
