About the position:
Lumia Care are looking for a highly capable and enthusiastic Group Payroll Manager on a Full Time Permanent Basis.
As Group Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal role in developing current payroll processes, payroll systems and the payroll team to the highest standards possible. You will have support from leadership to complete your goals and can utilise internal resources as needed. You are also responsible for leading the overall Payroll Function through audits and compliance in accordance with legislation and the implementation of new enhancements and processes. The role is also responsible for the learning & development of the Payroll Team, and the successful execution of payroll initiatives and will embrace and contribute to Shared Service team activities whilst also supporting various departments by delivering a high level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities are:
- Responsible for accurate and timely processing of all payroll transactions (e.g., salaries, wages, benefits, garnishments, taxes, bonuses) affecting 4,000+ employees AND GROWING (Weekly and Fortnightly).
- Review and implement compliance changes to payroll processes and systems to ensure a best practice standard is maintained.
- Responsible for accurate and timely processing of payroll updates (e.g., new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates)
- Provide leadership and understanding regarding end-of-financial-year requirements and take ownership of delivering the outputs in line with the Australian Taxation Law
- Manage the preparation of all State and Federal tax obligations including PAYG tax, STP lodgements and Superannuation Guarantee contributions.
- Responsible for maintaining Payroll training guidelines and updating related company policies and procedures.
- Ensure the Payroll system/s is compliant with statutory requirements and Award requirements. Applicable award being SCHADS, Nurses, Aged Care, Clerks and Miscellaneous Award.
- Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
- In partnership with the wider Payroll Teams, oversee the effective execution of daily operational requirements.
- Take ownership of payroll staff development and cross-functional training to avoid single-point sensitivities within the department.
- Support all Internal and External audits as required.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Deliver excellence with a customer-focused mindset when assisting key stakeholders, and lead the Payroll team to do the same
- Develop, promote and maintain open communication and good working relationship with People Services, I.T. and other internal stakeholders.
- Establish a culture of high performance, professionalism, and continuous improvement that encourages individuals to identify opportunities and solutions to improve service delivery, achieve outcomes and meet established deadlines.
- Remain up to date with regulations and laws related to payroll, tax and benefits.
- Performs other related duties or projects as assigned.
Attributes for a successful candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- Minimum two (2) years experience in a similar role, preferably in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft products, particularly Excel as well as established accounting packages
- Be able to work autonomously or as part of a team
- MUST be a team player and able to work well with stakeholders reporting into and to.
- Highly organised individual that can multitask and manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communicator and with ability to lead by example
- Ability to escalate and tap into key stakeholder when appropriate.
We are looking for an established Payroll Manager who can demonstrate successfully managing a similar-sized Payroll function (or larger), with exceptional skills in people management, stakeholder engagement, and customer service. You must also be a "solutions-driven" individual who will happily delegate duties to your team when relevant.
