The Opportunity:
Reporting to theHealth and Safety Manager theHealth and Safety Advisorwill be responsible for promoting and providing a high degree of Health and Safety advice to all operational departments. You will play a pivotal role in driving behaviours and positive environmental outcomes, consistent with the MRL Safety Management System Framework and Project Safety Management Plan.
This is an exciting site based opportunity spanning our Lithium and Iron Ore operations on an 8:6 roster.
Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):
- Actively promote Safety across the project site by consulting and assisting with personnel regarding safety issue
- Advise and assist line management to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations and all other associated Regulations, Codes of Practice, and MRL policies, standards, guidelines and management procedures
- Identify risk and non-compliance issues that may have an impact for the project, reporting these to the site Safety Lead. Provide timely assistance to address such risks.
- Provide operational support for hazard identification, risk assessment and control activities.
- Assist with the development and implementation of occupational Health and Safety risk management programs.
- Conduct/assist in investigating incidents that occur in the workplace. Interpret accident data and maintain and coordinate accurate records on the MRL INX Safety Management database.
- Recommend and implement procedures to eliminate and reduce causes of injuries, illnesses and workers compensation claims.
- Facilitate the injury management and return to work process
- Conduct workplace inspections and systems audits and provide feedback and recommendations to the Site Lead Team.
- Undertake the required number of Field Interactions, Planned Task Observations and Workplace Inspections to drive continuous improvement and to lift overall Safety performance of the site.
- Proactively participate in all Safety related forums including but not limited to Pre-shift Meetings, Toolbox Meetings and as applicable Safety Committee Meetings.
- Assist in providing timely reports, including overdue incident and action reports and other Monthly data as required by the site Safety Lead
What you’ll bring to the team
- Minimum of 5 years in a similar role, with excellent understanding of Mining risks
- Tertiary qualification in Health and Safety
- Food Safety Knowledge (HACCP)
- Training and Coaching skills
- Excellent Risk Management Skills
