The incumbent to this position must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Defence Security Clearance up to a level of negative vetting 1.

About the role
Ventia's Defence Base Services (DBS) contract are seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager to manage and deliver the Estate Works Program for WA. This role is based at and Leeuwin Barracks and Ventia East Perth Office and is offered on a permanent full-time basis. Please note, whilst this role is based locally, travel intrastate and interstate to other states/territories may be required, within your area of responsibility.
The primary purpose of this position will be to oversee the planning and execution of multiple multi-disciplined construction activities, to ensure that project outcomes are delivered in accordance with agreed requirements of time, quality and cost, and ensure they align harmoniously with the 'value for money' philosophy of the Client.
About you
Reporting directly into the Program Manager for the DBS North West zone, you have excellent client and stakeholder engagement skills and you adopt a collaborative and team-based approach when it comes to Project Management. You are analytical and a natural leader who can drive and embed best practise service delivery through the commitment of the team, to ensure project outcomes and specifications are met in a cost-effective manner.
You possess exceptional organisational capabilities, a high degree of motivation, energy and initiative, with the capacity to deal with multiple and often conflicting priorities. This, coupled with your experience managing Defence contract works will contribute to your success in this role.
Key duties, but not limited to
- Strategically manage project stream with the aim of striving for revenue growth through regular interaction with key stakeholders
- Effectively plan and deliver multiple projects whilst prioritizing safety, staying on schedule and budget, and maintaining high quality standards whilst reporting against each deliverable
- Monitoring the workloads and prioritising deliverables of direct reports whilst building a cohesive and versatile team
- Working closely with the Project Controls team to monitor project finances, identifying and tracking any discrepancies and ensuring that billing processes are carried out efficiently
- Providing monthly reporting related to slippage, making adjustments as required, implementing corrective actions and ensuring timely project completion and billing
- Championing the state program schedule
- Proactively ensuring the compliance of Risk Management, Quality and Health, Safety and Environment management systems, including statutory obligations
- Be a role model for positive SHEQ culture in the workplace and encouraging people managers and team leaders in their business to adopt the same values
Skills & experience
- Project Management certification with proven experience
- Experience in construction and asset management is highly desirable
- The positon requires a National Police clearance check and a valid Australian drivers licence
- Outstanding stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate and engage with people from various levels of the business
- Excellent ability to communicate, influence and negotiate work winning outcomes
- Proficiency in MS project
