We are seeking an experienced and passionate Workforce Development Consultant who will play a pivotal role in identifying and maximising opportunities to design and deliver high quality workforce-related products, services, and activities for LGNSW members.
About LGNSW
LGNSW is the peak body for councils and related organisations in our State. LGNSW advocates on behalf of members and their communities on policy to decision makers at state and federal levels. We also provide a comprehensive range of services to our members including industrial relations representation, management services and training.
About the role
Reporting to the Director Workforce & Legal, the successful candidate will support the development of strategies to grow, diversify and consolidate workforce related services and products for the NSW local government sector by maintaining strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders. Key aspects of the role will involve:
- Managing the design, delivery and marketing of workforce-related products and services, including partnership development, supplier management, marketing and promotion and customer service to LGNSW members.
- Conduct member engagement and research to evaluate sector experiences, opinions, and trends in relation to Workforce Development.
- Manage workforce-related projects (e.g. Local Government Workforce Capability Surveys & Reports, and Careers at Council).
- Prepare submissions for LGNSW (and assist the Australian Local Government Association with the preparation of submissions) that relate to Workforce Development.
- Provide policy advice on issues related to Workforce Development, including vocational education and training (VET), NSW and Commonwealth Budget Papers, Productivity Commission and other submissions related to Workforce Development.

About you
You will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to negotiate, influence and build strong networks with stakeholders. You will have an in-depth understanding of Workforce Development program design and delivery processes and the proficiency to represent LGNSW on workforce-related advisory committees. Your strengths will be project management and the ability to gather member intelligence to evaluate existing services and identify new opportunities.
Essential Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and demonstrated experience in workforce policy and/or program development.
- Extensive experience in the design and delivery of capacity-building programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build and maintain effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders with demonstrated ability to negotiate, persuade and influence stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated project management experience and ability to deliver quality results within time and budget parameters.
- Ability to travel as required.
