Homelessness
Education and Training
Support and Wellbeing.

Since 2001 we have been delivering appropriate education programs for disengaged and at-risk young people through our Anchor Point program and Youth Futures Community School.
The role:
We are seeking a full-time Literacy Learning and Support Officer support and engage with young people attending our Youth Futures Community School and Anchor Point programs across our Bayswater, Midland and Swan View sites.
Our schools are designed to re-engage and Support students who have had difficulty attending mainstream education. Our goal is to ensure that students achieve relevant education certificates and possess the personal and social skills required to progress, be that TAFE, employment, training or an apprenticeship.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Providing individualised literacy and numeracy support to identified students across Youth Futures education services
Supporting initial diagnostic testing and development of programs tailored to student needs
Developing and presenting individualised lessons using a variety of techniques relevant to the young people we work with
Monitoring student progress and advising on transition from the program as applicable
Develop/source appropriate resources to assist students' learning outcomes
Keeping relevant data including but not limited to:
Diagnostic testing
Attendance records
Session plans
Session outcomes
Student progress
Contribute to a monthly report including student attendance and number of sessions held
We are looking for someone who:
Has the relevant knowledge and skills to tailor programs for disengaged young people.
Has experience working with young people who have become disengaged from mainstream education and possess significant barriers preventing re-engagement.
Can demonstrate their ability to engage and work with at-risk students who may present some challenging behaviours.
Is passionate about re-engaging students through the fostering of positive and professional relationships.
Is experienced in delivering curriculum support to students with low numeracy and literacy levels.
Will ensure their practice is consistent with cultural, gender, developmental and other individual needs.
Has highly developed communication skills.
Essential qualifications and experience:
Experience and expertise in the delivery of literacy and numeracy, including English language structure, skills development, and engagement and creation of text types
Experience in and knowledge of contemporary and evidence -based teaching theories and methodologies to support the development of literacy and numeracy skills
Valid National Police Clearance
Valid Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check (NCCHC) via Department of Education.
Valid Working with Children's Check
Current 'C' class WA driver's licence
Desirable qualifications and experience:
Relevant primary, secondary, adult education teaching qualification or education support qualification
TAE40110/40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
Previous experience delivering Certificates in General Education Adults (Introductory and CGEA1)
Knowledge of education, training pathways, minimum school leaving requirements and alternative education programs
Experience in working with ‘at risk’ young people.
Qualification in Education, Youth Work, Social Work or other appropriate Community Services degree

Monday - Friday
8am - 4pm
4 weeks annual leave (During School Holidays)

Award Protection
The base rate for this position depending on qualifications and experience is $75,894 to $85,176 per annum, plus superannuation.
In addition to your remuneration, you will enjoy generous salary packaging benefits where you can package up to $15,900 for general living expenses and an additional $2,650 for entertainment benefits per annum.
