WHO YOU ARE

Ideally you will have similar experience within student accommodation or hospitality industry. You will have a 'safety first' mindset, and an understanding of basic OH&S principles and chemical handling.
Our Maintenance Coordinator is a ‘Jack of All Trades’, who is willing to be flexible in their working style, and happy to work both independently as well as part of a team. This role will keep you busy, whilst offering variety in duties day-to-day. You could be tasked with completing general repairs such as plumbing, light bulb changes, painting, plastering and carpentry, or may be required to carry out general investigative work to ascertain potential issues. You will need to have the physical ability to carry out your duties; and able to establish good working relations with contractors. Communication skills are key in this role as our staff and residents come from diverse backgrounds.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Your responsibilities as Maintenance Coordinator will include but not be limited to:
- Responsible for all general maintenance repairs and cleaning services including the coordination of contractors and specialist services
- Maintain terraces and gardens to present a clean and attractive appearance at all times
- Ensure tenants are given reasonable notice as required under the Residential Tenancies Act for access for repairs and maintenance
- Establish systems and procedures to facilitate preventative maintenance programs including selection of suppliers and support system, meeting budget and standard requirements as set by management.
- Complete a daily check of plant equipment, common facilities and property specific requirements
- Work within and maintain procedures and standards for all operational areas to maximise efficiency of resources
- Obtain written quotes for approval by the University, where required
- Maintain the highest level of maintenance, safety and security at all times
- Operate within agreed company health and safety procedures. Follow industry and statutory regulations at all times
- Provide assistance in a professional and efficient matter to residents
- Keep the Manager up to date on the progress of works being carried out
- Valid Working Rights in Australia
- National Police Check
- Working with Children Check
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Engineer, Electrician or Plumber (highly regarded)
- Valid Australian Drivers Licence and reliable vehicle
