Role
Ventia at BP Kwinana are currently looking for a Mechanical Supervisor to lead a multi-disciplined Team.
- 4 day working week (Mon-Thurs)
- 10hr days, 6am – 4pm
- Rotating roster for Friday work (approx. 1 a month), compensated for overtime.
Primary Responsibilities
- Supervising Team Members and act as a “Role Model” through leading, in a way that positively demonstrates the Ventia behaviors and values.
- In conjunction with instruction from Site Management, schedule the day-to-day operational activities of the various Employees who fall under your responsibility, providing leadership and direction with clear and unambiguous communication.
- Organize and arrange materials, plant and equipment for the day to day and look-ahead work activities for the work team.
- Prepare/write Job Procedures / SWMS as required.
- Maintain a proactive focus on Safety, ensuring compliance with Ventia Occupational Health, Safety, Environmental and Rehabilitation Policies and Procedures, current Acts, Regulations and applicable Australian Standards.
- Develop a professional and solid communicative working relationship with Client Representatives, in the requisition, approval and execution of the work or task at hand. Ensure all Customer issued instructions and approvals are received in documented written form, if not request written confirmation. In particular for matters relating to Safety, Quality, Operational Delays and Variations or other site related matters.
- Conduct daily Pre-Start Toolbox Meetings with due consultation and discussion on relevant Incidents, Safety issues and daily work-related matters, ensuring all Team Members are aware of matters that may or could possibly affect, the work scheduled for the day or forthcoming work according to the Project Schedules. Attend and or (assist) delivery of the monthly Safety Toolbox Presentation roll out to Site Employees.
- Act immediately upon and address unproductive or inefficient work practice, wastage in materials or time. Identify and initiate ways to minimize unproductive hours, whilst continually looking at methods for efficiency gains within Safe Work Practice guidelines.
- Monitor or inspect worksites daily, ensuring Safety and Quality Standards are consistently upheld in work practices, Employee behaviors and housekeeping, eg by spending sufficient daily hours in the field, using HSE Worksite Inspection and Observation documents in compliance with LCP targets.
- Report any incidents, accidents or near miss to Management immediately in accordance with company policy and procedures. Lead and/or be involved in incident investigations when required.
- Forecast and schedule resources to meet Project/Contract demands.
- Carry out all work activities upholding the Company values of Integrity, Ingenuity, Collaboration and Challenge. Carry out all duties in line with Company Policies and Procedures as amended from time to time.

Skills & Experience
Required
- High level of skill and experience in Project and Maintenance Activities.
- Tertiary and / or Trade qualifications in an applicable discipline (or equivalent) required for this Project.
- Knowledge of Construction, Project and Program Controls Principles and practices.
- Basic/Medium Computer Skills.
- Accountable for all deliverables and outcomes for allocated Project, including but not limited to Safety Performance, Project Coordination, Cost control, Quality Management and on time completion.
- The Supervisor is the person directly responsible to Site Management for ensuring the daily performance of their Work Team meets with the requirements of the Company and Customer.
- Construction Industry Induction (White Card).
- Demonstrated Management and Organizational Skills.
