Team Kooky is looking for another beautiful weirdo to join our happy work family. There is never a dull day in our bustling multi-disciplinary mental health and developmental paediatric clinic. Salary is negotiable, and will reflect level of experience. The successful candidate must be flexible to work at either location when required (Springwood and Ipswich). Our offices are open Monday to Friday.  Hours will usually be an 8.5 hour day across variable roster of 7.30am - 6pm. 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining a pleasant patient experience at every point of contact with the clinic, with a warm and sunny manner, ability to manage occasional conflict and confrontation, and unflappable empathy and compassion for all-comers.
  • Processing of all aspects of patient care, including use of practice software and appointment booking systems, electronic medical records (scanning and filing, letter generation), email processing, payment processing (including eftpos), generation of invoices and account-keeping, patient communication, technology trouble-shooting, working with Medicare and other third parties. Being confident with technology and learning new IT systems with enthusiasm is essential.
  • High level of communication, including accurate spelling and grammar, ability to type quickly, and a delightful phone + email manner, with genuine enthusiasm for the people and services we offer.
  • Occasional child-minding may be required whilst parents are in session. As such, applicants must be eligible for a Blue Card and Yellow card, and experience with children, especially those with special needs, is a bonus.
  • Ability to learn quickly and be attuned to both clinician and patient requests.
  • Ability to work well with other team members.
  • Ability to remain calm and contain distressed clients, and to triage urgent requests or emergencies. Willingness to complete mental health first aid training. Excellent people skills and communication. Good common sense and instincts under pressure.
  • Understand principles of patient confidentiality and professional ethics in the health sector.
  • Mail collection, sending and processing.
  • Auditing and purchasing of all office stock, including stationary, bathroom, and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintaining general order and cleanliness in communal areas to maximise client comfort. Giving the clinic flowers and clinic therapy pets an occasional drink, or being up for Zoomies around the waiting room!
  • Assistance with maintaining the professional image and good reputation of the clinic, including participation in marketing and business improvement practices.
  • Contributing to a supportive and joyful work culture, with capacity to reflect on individual strengths and challenges, and embracing feedback from clients and colleagues alike, with a "growth mindset". Willing to have the occasional “30 second dance party” with colleagues and clientele, when the buttons are pressed to lighten the mood.


 Previous experience:

  • Relevant Medical Receptionist experience would be an advantage, but not essential. We are seeking a suitably fun, energetic, and vivacious individual, who can see themselves happily working at The Kooky Clinic for many years to come, and is a fast learner who is up for the challenge of working in a dynamic and interesting workplace.
