Specialist Orthopaedic Surgeon is seeking an experienced full-time Medical Secretary to join our private practice.
Role and Responsibilities
The primary function of this role is to organise appointments, maintain records and perform tasks to ensure the smooth day to-day running of the Practice.
This position has previously suited an experienced person who is able to work independently and reliably.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Front desk reception and patient liaison
- Consultation bookings and diary management
- Handling of patient enquiries
- Medicare and health fund billing/claiming
- Dictaphone typing
- Patient accounting and end of day reconciliations
- Management of correspondence, medical reports and emails
- Maintaining patient files and scanning
- Stock control and purchasing
Qualifications & experience
The successful candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Minimum of one year's experience in a similar role (ideally experienced in surgical practice)
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology
- Good computer knowledge and understanding. Knowledge of Genie software desirable
- Excellent organisational skills, initiative and common sense
- Excellent ability to multi-task, prioritise and work independently
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Dictaphone typing speed of at least 60wpm
- Professional presentation, enthusiastic manner. Awareness of confidentiality and sensitivity associated with a specialist medical environment
