About the role

The National Account Manager (NAM) is a contributing member of the Retail Management group and is responsible for achieving sales, market share and profit objectives for a designated list of customers and / or channels. This includes managing all elements of strategic planning, promotions, forecasting, trade spend management, category review presentations, business reviews and managing all internal and external communications. Conducting regular business reviews and building relationships across the customer base are critical to ensure the business is represented professionally and in line with company and industry compliance and WH&S expectations. Intrinsic to this role includes networking and collaborating across multiple business groups in support of achieving company goals within the guidelines of company policies and processes. 

Qualifications & experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a National Key Account Manager in OTC or FMCG industry
  • Degree preferred

Core responsibilities

Sales Management:

  • Responsible for achieving national and customer sales budget expectations. 
  • Responsible for segmenting customers to allocate resourcing appropriately.
  • Responsible for developing a workable annual strategic plan for all relevant strategic customers.
  • Achieve NPD ranging and allocations as per New Launch Bible expectations.
  • Achieve market share expectations (where relevant).
  • Review daily orders from customers before they get released and communicate internally and externally as required.

Profit Management:

  • Set and align annual co-op budget for customers.
  • Track, control and reconcile trade spend in line with annual budget. 
  • Maintain all pricing, co-op spend, promotional plan documents.

Key Account Management:

  • Customer promotional planning set in line with brand strategies.
  • Category reviews and internal collaboration to maximise success with customers.
  • Maintain strong multi-level customer relationships.
  • Apply general commercial acumen around ROI, trade spend, deal management and trading terms.
  • Perform category reviews and keep business connected to major customer decisions like ranging, deletions.
  • Present strategic plans to wider business to keep updated on trends across customer and potential opportunities.
  • Communicate all risk factors as required. 
  • Manage the short-dated stock and or / allocations of stock process.
  • Participate in monthly forecasting by channel and lead discussion on your own accounts.
  • Excellence in presentation skills is an expected benchmark skill for the individual. 
  • Ensure compliance to contract management in line with policy expectations.

Teamwork and Relationship Management:

  • Conduct regular face to face meetings with all customers, in line with budget spend expectations.
  • Arrange top to top meetings as required. 
  • Active role in the Retail Management team meetings.
  • Ensure company leadership team is aligned to industry and customer trends.
  • Internal collaboration and participation in meetings. 
  • Conference attendance and presentations.
  • Conduct regular communication to Supply, Reps and Marketing teams ensuring transparency across messaging.
  • Provide support for conference and customer presentations and ensure connected to company strategy.
  • Behave in line with Company values and expectations.
