The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of manufacturing environments and a proven track record of implementing effective OH&S practices. This is your chance to be a key contributor in the development of revolutionary technology with the potential to change the world!

About us

At Li-S Energy, we're not just keeping up; we're driving the change with groundbreaking lithium-sulphur technology. Our vision extends far beyond electric vehicles (EVs), encompassing drones, electric aircraft, and countless other innovations shaping tomorrow's world.

At Li-S Energy, we're not your average company. We combine the stability and resources of an ASX-listed company with the agility and excitement of a trailblazing start-up. We also have some seriously cutting-edge technology at our fingertips, with our advanced pouch cell production line in the largest battery dry room in Australia. This unique blend lets us make a real impact on the world, pushing the boundaries of battery technology while enjoying the collaborative, fast-paced environment of a start-up culture. But to truly revolutionise the world, we need passionate individuals like you.

The opportunity:

The role, based at the Waurn Ponds campus of Deakin University, will report to the Operations Manager and will be responsible for:

  • Identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards and risks to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Developing and implementing control measures (including Safe Work Procedures) to eliminate or minimise risks, fostering a zero-harm culture.
  • Ensuring adequate resources and processes are in place to support OH&S initiatives.
  • Ensuring full compliance with all relevant OH&S legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
  • Developing, delivering, and documenting comprehensive OH&S training programs for all employees.
  • Establishing and maintaining a robust incident reporting and investigation system.
  • Analysing incident data to identify trends and implement corrective actions.
  • Fostering a positive safety culture through effective communication and consultation with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, monitor compliance, and implement safer work practices where applicable.
  • Evaluating and managing OH&S risks associated with suppliers and contractors, ensuring compliance with safety requirements for all products and services.
  • Proactively seeking opportunities to enhance the OH&S management system and staying up-to-date with OH&S legislation and guidelines.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential:

  • Proven track record in applying OH&S principles and legislation within a manufacturing or research environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments, hazard identification, and implementing effective control measures.
  • Strong understanding of chemical safety and hazardous materials handling.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing Safe Work Procedures (SWPs).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to safety management.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of AS1940 (The storage and handling of flammable and combustible liquids) or equivalent standards.
  • Familiarity with battery packaging standards (UN 38.3, etc.).
  • Experience with lithium cell technology and associated safety considerations.
  • Understanding of national and international travel restrictions, regulatory, insurance, and safety requirements related to the transportation of dangerous goods.

Additional Assets:
