Carrington Cottages is a registered not-for-profit association that provides 102 rooms for men, women and couples who have been sleeping rough in Adelaide. The organisation is a leading transitional housing provider in South Australia, offering a safe haven for individuals, couples and their pets experiencing homelessness. Their primary goal is to support individuals through internal and external programs and assist them to transition into permanent and ongoing affordable housing.
Carrington Cottages actively collaborates with Industry Partners, Government Agencies, Non-Profit Organisations, Primary and Allied Health Practitioners to enhance the support they provide. This enables them to offer additional resources and opportunities to guests in their buildings empowering them to achieve lasting positive outcomes.

Your new opportunity…….
Reporting to the CEO, you will be responsible for oversight of the daily operations of all buildings in the Carrington Cottages portfolio. The role is crucial in ensuring the smooth functioning of the transitional housing facilities and primary responsibilities include:
- Management and maintenance of all buildings in the Carrington Cottages portfolio
- Implementing and maintaining appropriate safety and security protocols within the buildings
- Ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations and standards including regular inspections and updating of protocols
- Ensuring satisfaction and the wellbeing of guests including issue management for guests by coordinating relevant team members
- Contributing to budget development and management for all building operations
- Leading a team of 7 including work scheduling, training and guidance
- Managing and promoting stakeholder engagement within the sector through advocacy and the building or partnerships
What you will need …….
- Experience working in the housing sector or on the “front line” working with individuals with mental health or addiction challenges
- The ability to respond to emerging issues and changing priorities in an effective manner
- Experience in leading a team
- Ability to learn new systems and technology platforms
- Understanding of and ability to develop social media strategies
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience
- DCSI and police clearance
- A current drivers’ license
- First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
